Whether you're new to Mahjong or looking to refine your skills, our free Mahjong Play & Learn sessions offer a fun and welcoming way to connect with others, keep your mind active, and enjoy one of the world's most popular games.

Presented in collaboration with Inner West Council and run by our volunteers, these sessions have attracted many English-speaking community members and provide a friendly environment for people of all experience levels.

CASS Care Launches ‘Golden Artists Project’ – Paint Away Loneliness: Creating Connections Through Art

We are calling on the community to help combat loneliness among older Australians by supporting our new Golden Artists Project: Paint Away Loneliness campaign, raising funds to connect older people through art, friendship and cultural expression.

Social isolation affects around one in five older Australians, and for many people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, language barriers, migration experiences and smaller local support networks can make loneliness even more challenging. Through the Golden Artists Project, CASS Care provides a welcoming space where older people can build friendships, express themselves creatively and celebrate their cultural heritage.

The Golden Artists Project fundraiser aims to ensure the program can continue providing art materials, creative workshops, exhibitions and social activities that enrich seniors' lives while strengthening community connections.

The project initiator, Ms Lily Chan, Corporate Affiars Officier, said,

"Art has an extraordinary ability to bring people together. Through the Golden Artists Project, we've seen friendships blossom, confidence grow and cultural stories shared across generations. Every donation helps reduce social isolation and creates opportunities for older people to connect, create and thrive."

Community members are encouraged to donate, share the project with family and friends, and help ensure older Australians continue to experience the joy, connection and wellbeing that creativity brings. The campaign runs until 31 December, 2026.

About the Golden Artists Project

The Golden Artists Project is a CASS Care community arts initiative that empowers older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to express themselves through creativity. By providing opportunities to paint, learn new creative skills, exhibit artwork and connect with others, the program promotes active ageing, celebrates cultural diversity and helps reduce social isolation.

Youth Gambling and Screen Addiction (Mandarin) – Online Workshop, with Together Parent Support

As children and young people spend more time online, many parents and carers are becoming increasingly concerned about excessive screen use, online gaming, and exposure to gambling-related content.

This free online workshop will help families better understand the risks associated with youth gambling and screen addiction, recognise early warning signs, and learn practical ways to support young people in developing healthier digital habits.

Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) (CHC33021) Courses – Bankstown and Hornsby, in English

CASS has partnered with BreakthruCollege, a Registered Training Organisation (#91512), to deliver the nationally recognised Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) (CHC33021).

Through a combination of engaging classroom learning and practical training, participants are developing skills for roles such as Support Woker, Community Services Worker, and Individual Support Worker in the disability, aged care, or community care sectors.

With our first program of the year wrapping up in August, we’re pleased to open enrolments for our upcoming courses in Bankstown and Hornsby.

The 6-month courses will be delivered in English. Course fees vary depending on your eligibility for the NSW “Smart and Skilled” funding.
